Let Go. Breathe Deep. Begin Again.

October has arrived with a different energy, hasn't it? For me, it's coming after a wonderfully busy September of workshop and coaching programme launches. But whether your September was full of activity or full of other things entirely, there's something about this time of year that whispers: slow down now.

I love autumn. The air feels different now - crisp and purposeful. Leaves on the tress are changing colour. The light has turned golden and brief, reminding us that not everything is meant to last forever. Nature is beginning her great exhale - an invitation to turn inward.

This isn't about giving up on your goals or dreams. It's about honouring the rhythm that says: some seasons are for expansion, others for gathering yourself back in.

The Wisdom of October

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, autumn is the season of the Metal Element -associated with the lungs, the breath, and the power of refinement. While early autumn teaches us to release what no longer serves, October asks us to go further... to cultivate what remains.

The trees have deep in to letting go. Now they're drawing their energy inward, preparing for the quiet months ahead. Not because they're dormant, but because they're gathering strength for what's to come.

What if you took the same approach with your inner life?

What Needs Your Attention Now?

In this season of turning inward, it might not be about letting go of big things anymore. It might be about tending to the quieter needs:

  • The part of you that's been running on autopilot and needs to remember what you actually want

  • The voice inside that whispers – ‘you are worthy of the same care you give everyone else’

  • The small, daily practices that keep you connected to yourself instead of scattered

These are not dramatic changes. They're gentle turnings toward what matters most.

So, ask yourself: what part of you has been waiting patiently for your attention?

A Simple Practice: The Gathering Breath

Here's something to try when you need to come back to yourself:

The Inward Breath

  1. Find a quiet space and sit comfortably

  2. Place one hand on your chest, one on your belly

  3. Breathe in slowly through your nose, feeling your belly softly rise

  4. As you inhale, feel yourself becoming more centred and calm

  5. Exhale gently through your mouth with a soft "ahh" sound (like a sigh)

  6. With each breath, feel yourself becoming more present, more gathered, more you

Do this for just 3-5 breaths whenever you feel pulled in too many directions.

Begin Again (With Intention)

October reminds us that renewal doesn't always look like fresh starts and bold moves. Sometimes it looks like coming home to yourself. Like choosing to honour your own rhythm instead of forcing yourself at someone else's pace.

This season, let yourself move like the trees - drawing your energy inward, tending to what truly matters, preparing for whatever comes next from a place of quiet strength.

You don't need to figure it all out today. Just begin where you are, with the breath you're taking right now.

Breathe & believe, 💫
